Pink Parcel Period Talk: Anjali, Junior Videographer
Wouldn’t it be easier if we were all more open about the perfectly normal bodily function we experience each month? We think so. Each week a member of our very own #PPSquad will be sharing her period stories with you. Read, comment, share your own. Every story is welcome here.
This week’s period talk is from Anjali, our Junior Videographer.
What’s your period craving?
Like most of us, my periods are super weird! Sometimes I’ll crave salty snacks and other times the complete opposite: sweet scrumptious treats! Either way it’s going down! I do try to control myself if I can, but 9 times out of 10 times I fail horribly.
I know my period is coming when…
I get that ovulation pain we all know and love! My lower back starts to feel achy and more tender. This is where the hot water bottle and mental prep comes in.
Tell us about your first period…
Funnily enough, I had my first ever period literally a few weeks after my mum decided to teach me how to put a pad on. How do mums just know?! So, I had come home from a nice normal day of school and went to the toilet. As soon as I looked down I had the shock of my life! I was so confused because I thought I’d hurt myself but didn’t feel any pain. I even questioned whether I had somehow number two’d myself! Then after a few moments of panic I realized what it was likely to be. So I confirmed with my mum and all was good in the end!
Tell us a period cringe (we’ve all got one, hey…)
This is probably the most common one, but I’m sure we can all agree it’s the worst – leaking through your clothes! This happened to me a lot more when I was younger. I remember one time in a Science lesson, I had a strong feeling that I had leaked. I kept trying to discreetly check my chair and was so paranoid the whole time. Let’s just say I spent the rest of the day with my blazer tied around my waist, dodging teachers who would tell me off for it!
Your favorite thing to do when you have your period is…
Snuggling up in cozy clothes with a nice cuppa!
