6 Reasons To Make A Date With Grayson Perry’s New Exhibition!

If you haven’t heard of this creative wizard, you are in for a real treat. Meet Grayson Perry: artist, cross-dresser and social commentator who is striving to make art accessible for all.

Why do we heart him? First up, he called his latest collection ‘The Most Popular Art Exhibition Ever!’ simply because it “made him giggle”. Love. Second up, one of his creations is a pastel pink and yellow bike with a crown on the front called the ‘Freedom Princess Bicycle’. Again, LOVE.

If you’re not quite as sold as we are, here are 6 other reasons why you should make the trip to London’s Serpentine Gallery to see his work in all its glory!

1. The Kateboard

Yes. An actual skateboard inspired by Kate Middleton.

2. The L-O-V-E bikes

You know the amazing Freedom Princess Bicycle we told you about earlier? Here she is in all her shiny glory. Plus another candy-coloured dreamboat bike that celebrates patience.

3. The toilet humour

Transvestite Grayson has been dressing in women’s clothes since he was a teen and likes to play around with fashion. We love that his sassy alter-ego Claire cropped up in the most unexpected place!

4. The politics without the politics

Leave or remain? It doesn’t matter how you feel about Brexit, this artist wants to represent both sides of the debate. As part of his latest collection, he covered two vases with portraits of people, phrases, tattoos and photos sent to him via social media, along with his own illustrations to prove that both sides have more in common than we thought.

5. The proud bodies

For every new room you walk into, there’s a confident flash of nudity. What’s not to love about a proud, naked body?

6. The sketchbooks

The Turner Prize winner gives you a glimpse into his glorious mind by leaving his sketchbooks open around the gallery. Not only does it help you understand what he’s trying to communicate, but you get to see his ideas come to life!
