Pink Parcel Period Talk: Symone, Copywriter

This week’s period talk is from Symone, our lovely Copywriter.

What’s your period craving?

“All things sweet and savoury. I have a sweet tooth on a normal day but on the run up to my period, all I think about is cake, doughnuts, waffles, muffins, pastries… I could go on. Once my period actually starts, I have a day of not eating much at all (damn bloating) but after that, all I want is home cooked food (my mum’s in particular) and lots of it!”

I know my period is coming when…

“I get really negative moods, my stomach triples in size, my eczema gets worse and I get spotty too – fab combo right there.”

Tell us about your first period…

“I was one of the last ones out of my friends to start my period so I was so excited when it finally arrived. (Little did I know that I’d be wishing for it to go away once I got a bit older). It actually happened while I was in the bath which might seem a little gross but my bedsheets and underwear were saved which was fine by me. My mum was super excited too so we were both very happy that day.”

Tell us a period cringe (we’ve all got one, hey…)

“Luckily, I haven’t had any major period cringes. All of my leaks (we’ve all been there) have happened while I’m at home or close to home at least so it’s never been that big of a deal. But I did recently experience major period bloat while wearing the tightest of bodycon dresses so instead of looking super-sexy, I ended up looking pregnant. Brilliant.”

Your favourite thing to do when you have your period is…

“Relax in a hot bath (which I’m convinced lightens my flow), drink lots of green tea to battle the bloat, watch endless episodes of my favourite TV shows and spend as much of my day as possible relaxing in bed. But to be honest, that’s pretty much me every weekend haha!”
