Pink Parcel Period Talk: Rosie, PR Account Manager

Wouldn’t it be easier if we were all more open about the perfectly normal bodily function we experience each month? We think so. Each week a member of our very own #PPSquad will be sharing her period stories with you. Read, comment, share your own. Every story is welcome here.

This week’s period talk is from Rosie, our PR Account Manager.

What’s your period craving?

Anything and everything. I’m a bottomless pit when I’m about to come on. Pizza is my favourite food so that tends to be heavily involved.

I know my period is coming when…

I’m moody AF. One minute I’m crying, one minute I’m furious about the smallest thing. Luckily I’m on the pill so can predict when my period will be and apologise to everyone in advance.

Tell us about your first period…

I was the first of my friends to start, age 12. It happened during Miss Smedley’s English class. I had the worst cramps, I literally thought I was dying. I had to leave the lesson and practically crawl back to my boarding house then sobbed to my matron. She put me in bed with a hot water bottle and I got to miss lessons for the rest of the day which was great. Swings and roundabouts!

Tell us a period cringe (hey, we’ve all got one)…

My parents were hosting a dinner party at home and had asked my brother and I to act as waiters for the evening. I had just come on my period but this one had taken me by surprise so I had leaked in my pants a little and hadn’t had time to wash them, instead just dumped them in my washing basket in my room. As the dinner party was in full swing, suddenly my incredibly badly behaved dog made an entrance into the dining room, my period pants hanging from it’s mouth. I was mortified. I tried to subtly usher the dog outside but it paid no attention and began to run around the table away from me. My brother was bent over in hysterical laughter, whilst I chased my dog and my pants around the table in front of all my parents’ friends.

Your favourite thing to do when you have your period is…

Only recently I’ve started to notice how bloated I get on my period so I try to go to the gym as much as possible to stop me looking 4 months pregnant. When that fails, nothing beats lying in bed, guzzling chocolate, watching the Kardashians!
