Pink Parcel Period Talk: Claire, Graphic Designer

Wouldn’t it be easier if we were all more open about the perfectly normal bodily function we experience each month? We think so. Each week a member of our very own #PPSquad will be sharing her period stories with you. Read, comment, share your own. Every story is welcome here.

This week’s period talk is from Claire, our Graphic Designer.

What’s your period craving?

“I’d have to say chocolate, chocolate, chocolate and anything sugary that I can get my hands on. That’s my go-to for sure. I have a real sweet tooth and it’s ramped up even more when I’ve got my period.”

I know my period is coming when…

“The sadness sets in! Urgh. I mostly notice that I feel miserable and unhappy just before I’m due on. I also tend to get cramp backache rather than tummy pains – I’m not sure which one is worse.”

Tell us about your first period…

“It was a school day and we were due to do a whole school sponsored walk all day out in the countryside. Luckily, over night there had been a massive storm that the weather forecasters didn’t predict and it had blown down so many trees that no one could get to work or school. The walk was cancelled and we were all told to stay at home that day…..so I got to take it easy on the first day of my period and get to grips with it all. Phew. Someone was clearly watching over me!”

Tell us a period cringe (we’ve all got one, hey…)

“You probably won’t believe this, but I’m super-lucky that I’ve never had a embarrassing period moment….yet! I’ve probably jinx myself now.”

Your favourite thing to do when you have your period is…

“Absolutely nothing….and I’m not ashamed to admit it. When I’m on I just love to curl up under a blanket, watch rubbish TV and eat everything that I shouldn’t. Bliss.”
