Pink Parcel Period Talk: Natalia, Campaign Manager
Wouldn’t it be easier if we were all more open about the perfectly normal bodily function we experience each month? We think so. Each week, a member of our very own #PPSquad will be sharing their period stories with you. Read, comment, share your own. Every story is welcome here.
This week’s period talk is from Natalia, our Campaign Manager.
What’s your period craving?
“I am a real choccy monster. Chocolate keeps me going during the day and simply makes me happy, so I could eat absolutely anything with cocoa beans in it. Oh and cheese in the evening. You’ve just got to give me French brie or Italian burrata and I will stop moaning about cramps.”
I know my period is coming when…
“I get the most hilarious period spot, I’m talking about the ONE that sits right in the middle of your forehead, like Buddha’s third eye. I used to hate spots until I realised it’s a good excuse for more beauty product shopping (yay). Charcoal face masks, tea tree pore strips, chocolate scrubs… the list goes on. It turns out that my period spots have become the reason to pamper myself – at the expense of my bank account though. Ouch!”
Tell us about your first period…
“I was really young, like ten years old, but unlike all my other girlfriends I still looked like a little kid. My big sister was already regularly moaning about her period, so in a way I was mentally prepared for it. I don’t think I was squeamish about seeing blood in my knickers, but I remember calling my mum from the bathroom and her saying something cringy like, “ooh you’re a little woman now.”
Tell us a period cringe
“When I was 13, I went camping near Lake Garda and completely forgot that my period was about to arrive. I starting leaking in my light-blue shorts and had to tie my sweater around my waist. Eventually, I managed to find a pharmacy that sold me some pads for a ridiculous amount of money, yet it felt like the bargain of my life. That eight euros pack of pads saved my life, but I wish I’d had my period app at the time.”
Your favourite thing to do when you have your period is…
“I really love baking, so making an enormous cake to eat with my flatmates while watching a girly movie is the perfect thing to do.”
