The unexpected remark prompted cheers online from Schumer’s legions of fans while a taken aback Guiliana initially recoiled before stepping in to praise Schumer.

It follows an interview with BBC Newsnight’s Emily Maitlis in which she said, “I think anyone who is not a feminist is an insane person. I think they don’t know what feminism means.”

Schumer’s revelation comes after Jennifer Lawrence confessed she swapped her original choice of dress for this year’s Golden Globes for something more comfortable because she was on her period.

She told Harpers Bazaar, “Plan A was a dress that I couldn’t wear because awards season is synced with my menstrual cycle, and it has been for years,” she said.

Her plan B dress was a red Dior gown with discreet cut-outs. She liked it because it was loose, “And I didn’t have to worry about sucking anything in,” she told the magazine. “The other dress was really tight, and I’m not going to suck in my uterus. I don’t have to do that.”
