Can This Swiss Chocolate Cure Period Pain? #BestNewsEver

For most of us, period pain is a part of life, but the period gods have answered our prayers. Swiss chocolatier Chocolate With Love have created a delicious chocolate that actually claims to soothe monthly cramps! Can we get a hallelujah?

The sweet treat is called ‘Frauenmond’, meaning ‘women’s moon’, and is all about making our time of the month less ‘OMG my womb hurts’ and more ‘let’s eat away our pain’. We can work with that.

Like we needed another reason to binge on chocolate...

Like we needed another reason to binge on chocolate…

Marc Widmer, the company’s boss (and our new hero), believes that by blending together a selection of 17 Swiss mountain herbs with the serotonin found in cocoa he’s created a recipe that can better our menstrual chocolate binges forever!

Fantastic news for women like us that just want to melt Lindt balls in a bowl and pig out during our periods. This gives us a legitimate, dammit, almost medical excuse to consume excessive amounts.

We’re sure you already knew that craving the sweet stuff is a well known side-effect of PMS. Levels of your happy hormone drop while your stress hormone rises, causing the need for mood-boosting foods like pizza, pasta, burgers and of course, choccy.

This is where the magic happens. The apparent results of switching your usual slab of Galaxy for some ‘Frauenmond’ are higher levels of serotonin, lower stress levels, less painful cramps and a reassuring, harmonising sensation throughout your body. Dreamy, right?

There is a catch though. The period-soothing chocolate isn’t cheap. You might need to allocate a monthly pot for this splurge as it’s no 25p supermarket purchase. Chocolate With Love’s innovative new recipe is priced at 12.50 Swiss francs (around £10) per 100 grams so sure, it’s definitely cheaper to go and grab yourself a Snickers and a pack of pills but where’s the fun in that?
