7 Lovely Ways To Beautify Yourself While You Sleep

Beauty sleep takes on a new meaning when you add these simple products to your night-time regime!

A cleanser

While the occasional lapse in night-time cleansing is OK, it’s really important to cleanse before bed to prevent clogged pores, as well as make-up smeared all over your pillowcase! If you do find it a chore, go for something quick yet hydrating such as a micellar water.

Try: Bioderma Sensibio H2O – Micelle Solution, from £3, Escentual

A night-time moisturiser

Anti-ageing ingredients such as retinol can be irritating to skin during the day so they are best used during the night. Just as your body rests and repairs while you sleep, so does your skin. Night moisturisers usually contain more restorative ingredients such as ceramides, which help produce collagen and vitamins such as A or B5 that replenish and hydrate skin.

Try: L’Oreal Revitalift Repair Night Cream, £10, Pink Parcel shop

A silk pillowcase

Silk is gentle on your skin and can not only soften wrinkles and fine lines, but also helps keep your skin hydrated, which is great for people with super dry skin. The benefits don’t stop there as silk pillowcases are also good for your hair, helping to prevent split ends and ensuring you don’t wake up with bedhead!

Try: Silk pillowcase with cotton underside, £16, Jasmine Silk

A humidifier

Putting a humidifier in your bedroom at night helps keep you and your skin hydrated, ensuring you wake up with a beautiful, glowing complexion. It can also help prevent snoring, which could be disturbing your beauty sleep, and is a great addition to the bedroom during winter as it encourages quicker healing from colds and helps relieve sinusitis.

Try: Vicks Cool Mist Mini Ultrasonic Humidifier, £45, Asda

A hair mask

It’s not just your skin that needs a boost at night, your hair can also benefit. A nourishing hair mask makes locks shinier and is especially great if you suffer from fragile hair or split ends.

Try: Kercare Overnight moisturising treatment, £10.95, LookFantastic

A lip treatment

The skin on your lips is much more delicate than other areas of your body so is very vulnerable to dryness, especially in the colder months. The trick is to slather on a thin layer or super moisturising lip balm just before bedtime.

Try: Eight Hour Cream Intensive Lip Repair Balm, £17, Feel Unique

Baking soda

Want white teeth but without the price tag? Then you need to raid the kitchen cupboard for some baking soda. Mix up the baking soda with water and then using your toothbrush, apply to your teeth. Keep on overnight for the best effect. It’s wise to just use this occasionally as the acid in baking soda can break down the enamel on your teeth.
