It’s A Monthly Thing: 10 Reasons Why We Love May

May = Bank Hols! So, when we’re not daydreaming about summer, we’ll be checking out the culture, doing the MoonWalk and snapping up holiday buys…

1. Get Your Swimwear Shop On

Now that your “For You” Box has got you ready for swimwear season, you can brave the changing room with the best of this season’s bikinis and one-pieces to avoid the predictable pre-holiday sell-out.

2. Bank Holidaying

Whether you’re getting away for a long weekend or catching up on sleep and Netflix, make the May Bank Holidays count.

3. Red Carpet Ratings

Did you catch the biggest night in the fashion year – the Met Gala? We can’t get enough of office chat about the awards dresses and the insta-scrolling for the red carpet action.

4. Tune In For The Twin Peaks Revival

The iconic 90s crime drama is back, with original director David Lynch and main man Kyle MacLachlan (a.k.a Orson in Desperate Housewives and Trey in Sex And The City). One to watch whether you’ve heard of it before or not.

5. Thrillerrrr

Cancel everything – author of Paula Hawkins’ new psychological suspense novel Into The Water is out and it’s primed to be as creepy as her best-selling book, The Girl On The Train.

6. Get Your Fashion Fix

Balenciaga: Shaping Fashion, the long-awaited exhibition about Cristóbal Balenciaga, influential founder of the Spanish fashion house, opens at the V&A on 27th May. It’s sure to come up over drinks with the girls so get your tickets now.

7. It’s Time To MoonWalk

Get your BFFs, put your bras on and join the women and men walking through London on 13th May to raise money and awareness for breast cancer. Meet the crew on Clapham Common at midnight.

8. Blooming Lovely

Pencil in a date with your girls between 23rd-27th May to swoon over the garden-spo at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, and then go for tea and cake.

9. Fancy A Fringe?

Head down to Brighton for England’s biggest arts festival between 5th May – 4th June. There’s theatre, circus, comedy and music and over 200 events are free!

10. Pirate Party

Got cinema plans and don’t fancy anything too full-on? The latest in the Pirates Of The Caribbean series is out, bringing the usual swashbuckling drama and ops to swoon over Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Kaya Scodelario.
