5 Self Love Spa Breaks You Need To Book RN

There’s nothing like the warm cocoon of a hotel spa, being swaddled in a gigantic fluffy robe and doing SFA for a few days to bring you back from the brink of a winter burnout – a restorative self-love spa break leaves you feeling like a brand new woman. Who’s in need of that?

So whether you want to book in some treat time with your girlfriends, fancy spoiling your mum, or are combining RnR with romance (the best getaway combo), here are five of our favourite UK spa hotels that we urge you to escape to.

Scarlet Hotel, Cornwall

Being by the coast is beyond rejuvenating – you can thank those long beach walks and fresh, sea air for that. The Scarlet Hotel has to be the perfect beachside stay to blow away the cobwebs. Set on a cliff top, overlooking the sands at Mawgan Porth, this boutique eco bolthole is all wood, glass and dreamy sunset views. There’s a child-free policy, so expect a peaceful grown-up vibe when you hang out in the outdoor reed-filled swimming pool, do lengths in the indoor pool or take a treatment in the Ayurvedic spa. When you’ve maxed out on pampering, head to your room and get horizontal – the super-deep mattresses dressed with crisp, white sheets will yield a lovely nine hours of shut-eye. Ahh.

We love: The outdoor cedar wood sauna, cliff-top hot tubs and a sea-view yoga class. You can also book in surf lessons or horse riding on the beach.

Stoke Park, Buckinghamshire

This ancient posh pad looks rather grand, but once you’ve checked in, you’ll soon realise it’s all about the chill. Discovered by Bridget Jones on her first ever “mini-break” (remember?), Stoke Park is set in of 300 acres of glorious parkland and is home to an outrageously good spa and fitness centre. After a treatment (the Aromatherapy Associates massages are standout), there are indoor tennis courts if you’re feeling active, a light-filled indoor pool to loll around in, Italian marble steam rooms and an outdoor Scandi sauna and hot tub to make a dash for in your fluffy robe. Sleep in the Pavilion annexe, where rooms are modern and sleek, or lord (lady?) it up and pick a bedroom in the mansion house – the huge antique beds and gorge chandeliers are to die for.

We love: The hearty breakfast in the Orangery – fill up, then wrap up and work off the sausages with a muddy ramble around the grounds.

Gilpin Hotel and Lake House, Lake District

At the Gilpin Hotel and Lake House, sat on the edge of Lake Windermere near Bowness,  accommodation is mega elegant but really inviting – you actually won’t want to leave. Choose from one of the classic rooms in the main Georgian house, a garden suite with private hot tub housed in the nearby annexe, or one of the very swanky spa suites – complete with your own hot tub, sauna, steam room and Sonos music system. Seriously impressive. The food here is just as considered with fresh, seasonal menus to work your way through in a choice of three stylish dining rooms. For a slightly different vibe, take a look at the Gilpin’s sister pad, The Lake House – a six bedroom sanctuary a mile down the road that has a swimming pool, lake, boat house, hot tubs and saunas. There’s no traffic, no noise, but there *is* plenty of fizz. Result.

We love: The Jetty Spa’s wood cabin treatment room with views over the water. Their bespoke spa ritual called The Spa Trail, will fix even the weariest body and mind.

Lime Wood, Hampshire

Nestled in the New Forest, Lime Wood is a feel-good hotel that hits the spot for RnR seekers with its serene vibe, wholesome food, and holistic treatments in the Herb House Spa. Inspo at the spa comes from the natural surroundings so you’ll find an indoor hydro pool with woody views, a log-lined sauna, a steaming outdoor hot pool, and both single and double treatment rooms stocked with organic products. To work up a sweat, there’s a state of the art rooftop gym, an ozone treated lap pool overlooking the garden and a studio offering a fitness classes – don’t miss yoga on the pretty roof-top. The Raw and Cured food bar in Herb House serves up health-giving picks like smoothies and freshly-made salads, but the big foodie pull is the menu in the main restaurant, Hartnett Holder & Co. Dishes here are the brainchild of Lime Wood’s head chef and our fave female chef Angela Hartnett.

We love: The hotel’s forest lodges or two-bed cottages – think sumptuous beds, roll-top baths and roaring open fires.

Barnsley House, Cotswolds

Need a recharge from urban life? Leave the city smog behind and head to this country house hotel set in beaut English gardens in the pretty Cotswolds village of Barnsley. At the spa you can be pampered with a range of Elemis and CACI face or body treatments, take a dip in the outdoor hydrotherapy pool and chill out in your robe in the ground floor spa lounge overlooking the landscaped gardens. The intimate Potager restaurant uses herbs, vegetables and salad picked from the kitchen garden, and infuses home-grown herbs into freshly made breads and oils. Bedtime choices include Scandi-style split-level suites, spacious rooms and cute garden hideaways. Lush.

We love: If your vibe is more retox than detox, head over the road for a fireside pint at the cosy village pub.
