Wouldn’t it be easier if we were all more open about the perfectly normal bodily function we experience each month? We think so. Each week, a member of our very own #PPSquad will be sharing their period stories with you. Read, comment, share your own. Every story is welcome here.
This week’s period talk is from Mafalda, our Website & E-commerce Executive.
What’s your period craving?
“Carbs! The day before I get my period I will inhale any pasta, bread, pizza and crisps that come my way, as if I’m getting ready for long-haul hibernation. Oh, and chocolate too.”
I know my period is coming when…
“I feel uneasy in a social situation and my self-confidence is all over the place.”
Tell us about your first period…
“My first period and period cringe go hand-in-hand. I was 12 or 13 (I can't remember), a bunch of us went to my friend Sam's house where a young boy called Dave and I were told that each one of us fancied the other (we didn't) and were then shoved into a very small loo, where we both had an extremely awkward first kiss. Upon exiting, I ran upstairs to a bigger bathroom where my friends were waiting for the goss. As I sat down to pee and to tell them about my painful experience, I looked down and realised I had just started my period. I then had 10 girls shoving pads in my face and telling me how it should be placed, feel, etc.”
Tell us a period cringe
“*See my first period.”
Your favourite thing to do when you have your period is…
“Beam about the fact that I'm not pregnant (lol). No, honestly, I don't do anything differently when I'm on my period. I get quite bad cramps so I try to stay active and make up for all the binge carb-eating I have done in previous days and generally avoid any type of existential thoughts.”
