We know we’re a day late for WCW, but we couldn’t resist getting in on the chatter.
Her call-to-action blog post this week about our favourite monthly visitor - and how we all often feel like we're solo in the struggle that is female menstruation - hit close to home. The hashtags #redsummer and #tweetyourperiod are exactly the social call to arms we need right now.
Her desire to be able to talk freely about our periods, which - news flash - half the population deals with on a monthly basis, is a breath of fresh air. Blood in sport ads and even oral care is celebrated or at least not shunned in disgust, but we’re stuck with WKD Blue-like substance, or as Risa puts it - the "Blue Hawaiians" she drinks to represent our periods.

At Pink Parcel, our goal is to make periods easier and a little bit less pants, but we’re not afraid to call a tampon and tampon.
Let’s not hide our package of tampons underneath a bag of crisps and 23 bars of chocolate while queueing at the shops so no one can see it. We don’t want to divert to a self checkout when a male staffer at the till refuses to make eye contact because we have heavy flow pads in our trolley.
Period talk is gaining momentum in the public eye, in blog posts and via statements such as Risa's recent piece and these are exactly the kind of strong female voices we love to hear.
