Wouldn’t it be easier if we were all more open about the perfectly normal bodily function we experience each month? We think so. Each week, a member of our very own #PPSquad will be sharing their period stories with you. Read, comment, share your own. Every story is welcome here.
This week’s period talk is from Susana, our Brand Partnerships Assistant.
What’s your period craving?
“Without a doubt my go-to is pasta, pasta and more pasta. I love having a huge bowl of tortellini or spaghetti carbonara during those days of the month. It’s a big yes to the yummy carbs for me!”
I know my period is coming when…
“I first get an inkling that I’m about to come on because life starts to feel like an emotional rollercoaster. Then, without fail, I’ll get a huge pimple on my cheek. I always get it in exactly the same place every month. Urgh.”
Tell us about your first period…
“It was all very casual really because my mum had already given me the 'period talk' multiple times, so I was prepared for it. When it happened I was 10 years old. I woke up one morning and there it was – period blood. The first thing I did was go into my mum’s bedroom and ask her to give me some pads. She got excited/freaked out a bit, gave me the pads and then reminded me to change it throughout the day."
Tell us a period cringe
“When I was 14, I went to a house party wearing white trousers and *of course* that was the day that I got my period. It was really heavy and I stained my white jeans. I left the party straight away before any of the boys noticed it.”
Your favourite thing to do when you have your period is…
“Eating huge bowls of spaghetti, getting facials and watching movies in my PJs. That’s my kind of period.”
