This week’s period talk is from Kerri, our lovely photographer.
What’s your period craving?
"Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate, CHOCOLATE! I get really weak and tired so chocolate helps me feel a bit better. In fact, I love anything fatty – I like having an excuse to eat crap – but then, classic, I feel guilty after it's finished and try to eat healthy again..."
I know my period is coming when...
"I'm feeling fine then randomly a rush of anger, moodiness or sadness comes over me. I get really bloated and feel very tired and weak, then comes the pain."
Tell us about your first period…
"I was very young – the start of year 6. I was on the toilet, thank God. I looked down and saw blood, I thought there was something wrong with me (thankfully I later discover it was my period!)"
Tell us a period cringe (we’ve all got one, hey)
"There are too many! I guess one of the funniest was when I went to the cinema to watch a horror movie with two my of friends. I sat right back in the chair and put my feet up, then I stood up and both of my friends were laughing – I had leaked so bad in my light coloured jeans! My friend's mum had to pick us up from the cinema and I had to wrap my cardigan around my waist..."
Your favourite thing to do when you have your period is…
"Lay on the sofa with a hot water bottle and get my boyfriend to feel sorry for me. Also, eating crap and watching crap. Sometimes the pain is too much, it's the only thing I can do. Although the thing that helps me the most is doing my kickboxing class. It reduces the pain so much, it's just getting there that's the problem!"
